Career pathways are much like donuts. There’s more than one way to enjoy them!! 🍩

The jam-filled donuts are like the pathways squished with knowledge and theory. The sweet taste lasts longer, but it’s hard to eat more than one!

Then there are the iced with sprinkles. A mix of flavours and experiences. Like gap years, exploring jobs options, or combing work and study – they’re a mixed bag but could be just the one to change your life!

The cinnamon donut. Classic, no fuss, reliable, and always in demand. Just like apprenticeships, traineeships, and skilled trades, these pathways provide hands-on experience and practical skills from day one – and you can have more than just one!

National Apprenticeship Week – Give a Shout to an Apprentice

February 10 - 16, is all about recognising the hard work apprentices and trainees put in every day and the important role they play in our workforce.

Apprenticeships get you learning on the job, for sure, but their real superpower is setting you up for a solid career and building skills hands-on. They’re a launchpad to get you that dream career whilst earning a wage at the same time!

Meet Tracey, our new Project Officer for the Gympie Career Pathways Program!

With over two decades of hands-on experience as an Industry Liaison Officer at James Nash State High School, Tracey brings a deep dedication to supporting young people as they take their first steps into the world of work. She’s guided countless students through work experience, school-based traineeships, and apprenticeships, and her knack for resume writing and interview prep has helped set many up for success.

Tracey has a talent for building solid relationships with local businesses and a passion for helping students, especially those who need it most, find meaningful career paths. Before her time in education, she spent 20 years with Telstra in management roles, bringing a wealth of knowledge in business and youth development. With her heart set on creating lasting, positive change for youth in our region, Tracey is ready to make an impact on Gympie’s young workforce.

At GCPP, our aim is to create strong and effective school-industry partnerships, bringing together stakeholders to support students as they navigate the transition from secondary school to employment or further study. We achieve this by engaging with students and introducing them to key industries in the Gympie region—namely manufacturing, construction, agriculture, and health and community services. This is done through career information sessions, work experience, and industry immersion opportunities.
